They also run other office based qualifications such as Business Administration and Social Media and Digital Marketing.

EMA Training have excellent success rates which they put down to their carefully monitored class sizes that make for excellent tuition and supportive staff who’ll get you through your training, with a personal touch.

Whilst the classroom sessions are set to a schedule, their learners are more than welcome to contact the main tutor Tracey, out of hours for help and advice, whether it be 9am on a Monday morning or 9pm on a Saturday night.

They run their courses through apprenticeship, traineeship and Learner Loan schemes for local businesses and residents, providing the entire recruitment process so that the business has a one contact experience from the beginning of wanting to find an apprentice through to the learner being trained and ultimately qualified. Their centre is also open for external AAT students to come and sit their exams here in the IT Suite, in complete exam conditions, which is very popular with distance learning providers as most do not have this facility in their offices.

EMA Training have been trading for over 3 and a half years and Tracey works at the business full-time. She employs 4 members of staff – 3 of which are apprentices; 1 in social media and 2 studying the AAT accountancy qualification. The final member of staff is supported on a part time contract that fits into child care requirements.

After finishing secondary school, she started an apprenticeship in an office studying AAT and after several years of hard work and persistence, became a Finance Manager. After years of being in practice, she decided to put her skills to better use and help others by going in to the teaching side of the AAT qualifications. She is the tutor for the office based qualifications that they provide, believing that their USP is that they have a small, individual business that focuses on the learner and the personalised service they receive.

Tracey always wanted a business making a difference to other people’s lives – she loves going into work each day knowing that the business is what she created, that she is responsible for helping people achieve in their careers and grow as people.

Tracey found challenges in the fact that Government funding is always changing in the sense of who it will go to, how to obtain it and what will need to change or not change to meet these criteria. It took a while to build a good team of loyal and trustworthy employees within the office.

EMA Training recently gained direct the contract with Skills Funding Agency, which means they can offer the 19+ Learner Loan direct from the Government for their students, rather than through a contractor. They are also waiting to hear back regarding direct apprenticeship funding – meaning they will have a lot more control over how many apprentices they can bring on for training each year.

Tracey said of the application process:

Very good initial guidance. I cannot complain about the service I received as I could not have set up without it.
